One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar...Helen A. Keller

Dear Parents:

I have four purposes for writing  today:

1. Come to our 36th Annual Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, December 5 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Our Book Fair will also be open and you can visit the SEPTA table too!

2. Announcement of Staff Change:

Mrs. Betty Noone, our Technology , Engineering and Design Teacher, has resigned her position. Betty started at HKMS in September 2008. We will miss her professionally and personally.

Mr. John Marusa is assuming Betty's responsibilities. John earned a Masters Degree  in Science and Instructional Technology from Southern Connecticut State University. He coordinated the computer lab program for five years at St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull, Connecticut. We are delighted that he is able to join our team!  John will also be running our Video Production Extra-curricular activity!

3. Attention: Parents of Sixth Graders: School Climate Project.

If you have not already done so, please read the attachment regarding our School Climate Survey. Please note that you are free to have your child 'opt out' of the survey by completing the form and returning it to our Main Office by tomorrow, December 4th.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

4. SEPTA: A group of Easton parents has recently formed a new Special Education PTA (SEPTA) to support special education students and their families as well as special ed staff at HKMS and SSES. SEPTA is running "Gift Card Central" - a fundraiser that sells gift cards at face value. There are hundred of different gift cards available - to cover everyone on your holiday list - from itunes, Dunkin' Donuts, Barnes & Nobles, Visa, American Express, etc.

To see what is available or to order, go to https://www.shopwithscrip.com/. All you need to provide is your information and SEPTA's number, which is E2L4B2AB22968 Choose from hundreds of available gift cards and add what you'd like to purchase to your shopping cart, then drop a check for the amount to Easton SEPTA c/o the HKMS office. Gift cards will be hand delivered to you or can be picked up at school. Each gift card comes with a note that you can include, letting your gift recipient know that this gift supported special education.

Stop by the SEPTA table during our Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, December 5!!!

 See you on Saturday!

Joan Parker
